About Us
The USA Pencak Silat Federation (UPSF) is a non-profit (Tax ID: 46-2518844) Pencak Silat association in the USA to represent Silat from the Nusantara community that includes, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darusalam, and Singapore. USA Pencak Silat Federation is organized for exclusively charitable, educational and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Specifically, the organization will provide educational programs and awareness to the public regarding the fighting art of Silat, as well as provide charitable giving to other non-profit organizations.
Vision
To popularize and spread the teaching of Silat to Americans and to utilize the teachings to defend themselves, live healthy, support families, and communities.
Mission
To facilitate, promote, and preserve the cultural and sports aspects of Silat through teaching its concepts.
Goals
The development of Silat will be broken down into several major goals for the next five years:
- Create a positive environment for the mutual cooperation of Silat schools across the nation to help preserve, promote and advance the growth of Silat in USA.
- Exchange of knowledge to give students a broader understanding of Silat.
- Organize tournaments, conferences and workshops to spread the knowledge of Silat.
- To use the noble principles of Silat to develop healthier communities and inter-faith and inter-cultural dialog.
- Help fund existing Silat schools by way of grants to be used for advertising, creating and maintaining online presence, demonstrations, etc. in order to further the awareness of Silat to the mainstream.
